30th
Anniversary Rendezvous Events
We have a great time planned for you in 2008!
The latchstring is out to celebrate the best
Western Rendezvous of Art yet. Since it’s
inception in 1978, the Rendezvous, has brought
great art and artists to the West for the
art show and sale that is the most enjoyable
anywhere!
Rendezvous begins at the Montana Historical
Society on Thursday, August 21 with the new
Meet, Greet and Eat--this convivial gathering
of Rendezvous participants will include a
great BBQ, fun music by the Awesome Polka
Babes and lots of conversation.
Enlightening and entertaining seminars on
Friday, August 22 feature: “The Art
of Collecting” by John Geraghty, well-known
art collector and columnist for Western Art
Collector; and, Jim Daly, 2007 Peoples Choice
Award winner for painting who will present
a personal view of his unique art style that
is so universally admired entitled “I
Don’t Know Anything About Art But I
Know What I Like.”
Friday evening’s Gala Awards banquet
will include the keynote “My Passion
For Art” by Tom Tierney, publisher of
Art of the West, one of the premier magazines
for fine art collectors. This handsome publication
has delivered information on quality art and
artists to a wide audience for over 20 years.
Always a sold-out event, the Quick Draw and
Auction takes place on Saturday, August 23
at the historic Sieben Ranch just north of
Helena. Morning finds the artists spread throughout
the ranch property shaping their auction art
from the inspirational Montana landscape and
other subjects. Roaming amongst the artists,
enjoying a gourmet brunch and taking in the
scenery all lead up to the exciting Quick
Draw auction at high noon.
The set price sale of art by the Northwest
Rendezvous Group and guest artists follows
on Saturday evening at the Helena Civic Center.
The show is exhibited from Thursday through
Saturday to provide time for collectors to
peruse the over 200 pieces of art, and submit
“intent to purchase” forms for
the art they wish to purchase. After the sale
closes a winning buyer is drawn for each artwork.
The Western Rendezvous of Art concludes with
an informal brunch and “Last Chance”
art sale at the Helena Civic Center on Sunday
morning, August 24. Art purchases can be picked
up, and any unsold art can still be acquired.
Here patrons and artists gather to exchange
goodbyes and make plans for next year’s
Rendezvous!
